Hi All, Could you please tell me how the file attachment component works? For example: 1. Are the files stored inside of Secret Server 2. Are there any additional configuration tasks required to enable this feature
Thanks Greg

Hello Greg,
File attachments are encrypted and stored on the disk in the \fileuploads folder. On upload the file metadata is entered into the database, and given a unique id. The file itself is renamed to the unique id and encrypted with AES256. The additional configuration setting is granting the AppPool identity read, write, modify and delete permissions to the fileuploads folder.

Hi,
I have a couple follow-up questions to the above related to the Online Edition.
1) If I'm using the Doublelock feature, does this extend to the file attachments as well?
2) When I created a Secret Template that included a file attachment, I received a notice stating "The user NT Authority\Network Service does not have access to the fileuploads directory". Is this a problem?
Thanks. Rod

Hi Rod,
1. Yes. File attachments are DoubleLock encrypted as well.
2. Thank you for pointing this out. This message should no longer appear.
Thanks, -- Kevin J.

Thanks a lot Kevin.
One additional question about the Doublelock feature.
It appears that any Doublelocked secrets are not accessible via the iPhone application. Is this by design and/or are there plans to extend access to Doublelocked secrets to the iPhone app?
Thanks again.
Rod

Hi Rod,
That is correct. Currently the iPhone application and web services in general do not support DoubleLocked secrets.
I will add a feature request for this for you.
Thanks, -- Kevin J.
