Secret Server

Hi.

We are getting a repeated number of users complaining of very slow loading of data when they log into Secret Server.

It appears that this occurs when a user does not have any search criterea stated or any folder selected.
In these instances it appears as though the system attempts to retrieve every record from the database to display to the user.

This therefore leads to a very slow access to user data.

We are running the latest version of Secret Server but got this issues with older versions also.

Any ideas.

Not sure if this will help, but we had simillar issues with some people. Turned out they had there result size set to 100 or All. We have over 800 passwords, so this can slow things down.

Try this, it helped my users

Go to search tab, set result size to 30 (or similar sized number), do a blank search. The Browse tab will remember your result size, and show only show 30 passwords at a time now, making folder browsing much faster.

And thank you for your reply Jeremy. That is definitely the place to start assuming your users have hundreds of secrets.

This is probably not the cause either, but running in Unlimited Administrator mode will slow things down as well. It is recommended only in extreme cases and should be turned off when not needed anymore.

At present, there is no administrator setting for the Secret search results display size.

I will add this as a feature request as I can see how this may be useful for administrators attempting to troubleshoot issues.

I am going to create a support ticket for you to further assist you in narrowing down the cause of these slow-downs.
