Peter,

Since we get questions about Secret Template Password Requirements often, I'll add some additional steps (that you've already taken.) The direct answer to your question is in the last paragraph.

-Creating Custom Password Requirements-

In Secret Server: Click on Administration -> Secret Templates -> Password Requirements -> Create New

Fill out the Name and Description. Choose whether to make this requirement default for all Secret Templates. Choose a minimum and maximum length under Generate Password and choose a character set for generation. Under Password Rules, you can carefully define complexity in addition to the above requirements.

An example is this: <a href="http://www.thycotic.com/images/ForumPasswordRequirements.jpg">http://www.thycotic.com/images/ForumPasswordRequirements.jpg</a>

Here, I've created a 16 character password using the default character set (A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and symbols). I've additionally required each password to have a minimum and maximum of 4 characters from each individual set.

-Assigning Password Requirements to Secret Templates-

To assign the Password Requirement to the Secret Template: Click Administration -> Secret Templates -> Select the target Template -> Click Edit -> Assign Password Requirement -> Click on the Pencil (edit) Icon on the right for the field you want to assign the requirement and then choose the requirement in the drop down menu. Remember to click the Save icon and you're done.
