I am wondering if anyone else has noticed a lag within the dashboard mode of Secret Server? Specifically when expanding the folders in the folder list. we have a few hundred customer named folders in there, and sometime it can take 10-15 seconds to enumerate the list and display. Then you start scrolling through it, and it jumps in te list to the last one you had open.
We have been using legacy mode almost exclusively internally to coutner this issue.
Any thoughts?

Hello Blake,
Due to constraints, the folders load 100 at a time, and continue to load until everything is collected. If you start to scroll while the list is still being populated, the scroll bar will tend to change as more items are added to the list. The previously selected folder will be re-selected when the tab is activated and the folder finishes loading. This is a feature of the dashboard tabs as they remember your search values and folder state.
Have you made use of the folder search feature? Some of our customer who have large folder lists have found that searching and then selecting the correct folder from the search results greatly improves their productivity.

I have been using the advanced search by secret template . The issue we run into is that you get the remote access address for a customer, then you have to change the filter to domain administrator accounts to get login credentials. Then you switch to voice accounts to get into the phone system. sor a similar process. When you jump into the folder with no template filters, its just single click.
Searching on the folder structure is great for getting to the customer name (I personally use that every once in a while) however once you get the customer name, often you have to dig down deeper to a sub folder which would be the location name as well. Once you search and click for the customer name and click on it, then you have the same scrolling wheel while it reloads to get into the location folder. Does this make sense?

Blake,
Have you tried to select the higher level 'customer' folder and then check the 'Include Subfolders' checkbox? This will give you all the Secrets that are in the Customer folder or it's children, grand-children, etc. This way you would have access to all the customer's secrets without having to filter by template.
Here are the steps I would recommend: 1) Click the advanced search 2) Check the 'Include Subfolders' checkbox and have no template selected 3) Search for the customer folder via the folder search textbox and pick the proper customer's root folder 4) You should have all of the customer's secrets in the grid.
One other thing to note is that you can create a new tab specifically for that customer's folder by dragging the folder into the tabs. This new tab will always have that customer's folder as the root folder.
Hopefully using this method will allow you to be more efficient when searching until we have a release that directly addresses some of your concerns.

Right, and thats what I have been doing. I have one customer I have been working on today specifically that even clicking down to only a single location and then into the Accounts folder within the location I have 698 records. So I have been selecting the template to narrow that to remote access (while staying highlighted on the customer location) search for the server im trying to connect to, start the remote access connection, then switch to domain administrator account secret template to get my user and password for the remote access.
This customer I'm sure pushes the limit of what we should do within Secret Server, they have been trying our patience with lots of our internal and client facing tools as well
As always thanks for the quick responses!
