A quick and VERY dirty solution is to manipulate the microsoft_net_framework_assistant-1.2.2-fx-windows.xpi to get it to work in FF5

1. extract the file (7zip can do this)
2. modify install.rdf to the following strings:
2.1 1.2.2.1
2.2 5.0.*
3. Zip (7zip) the extracted content as microsoft_net_framework_assistant-1.2.2.1-fx-windows.zip make sure to not pack with the parent folder name and to use .zip as filetype!
4. rename to microsoft_net_framework_assistant-1.2.2.1-fx-windows.xpi

It's been working for me, but of course no warranty ;-)
Have fun,
Peter
