Hi We want to give our users the ability to create new folders within a shared root folder, but not the ability to delete...I can't see any way of doing this as the folder permission seems to be an all or none. When a user creates a new password, it has to go into the folder named for the client the password is for, if one was not existing already, the user should be able to create it.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks
J

Jason,
As you stated, there is no "Delete Folder" Role permission in Secret Server. There is only "Administer Folders".
In the next minor release of Secret Server, there will be Event Engine which will, among other things, have the ability to email a user on Folder creation and/or deletion.
Just note that this minor release update will be available for Secret Server users with up-to-date support licenses.

Is there any plan for a change in how folder rights are assigned?
Our fear is that with the ability to create folders the user may delete the root folder.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Jason,
We may change the folder permission granularity in the future if we get enough customers requesting it.
At present, we have a few major feature additions in our immediate future, so the development team is rather busy these days.
Also, deleting a folder does not delete the Secrets inside of it. They are simply removed from the folder. They would show up on a search with no folder specified.

Also, in your Secret Server Configuration there is a setting to Require Folder For Secrets. I believe this keeps a folder from being deleted if it has secrets in it.
